Great News!

Journal Entry: Fri Jul 3, 2009, 12:55 PM

Well, I have some great news for me. I entered the Creativity in the Cube contest at my employer DST Systems. I entered pieces in 2 categories (Free Verse and Haiku) and then they had a company wide vote.

I WON BOTH categories! The pieces I entered are:

and

These pieces now move on to the city wide competition and will be displayed at Union Station in Kansas City for 7 days, August 1-9th and I should know the results by the 7th.
This link below provides most of the same details, but I included it because i can.

I need to extend thanks to a group of people who have helped me hone my work and inspire me to be a better writer. These are just a few of you out here that make this such a refuge for me and a delight. :iconalecbell: :iconblueskye27: :iconmarzguy: :iconsatah:

To :iconchattycat28: who helped me narrow my selections and provided a critical eye and supportive ear. Thank you

I mean (at my age)very rarely do they put my art on the wall in the hallway for the other 'kids' to look at :) I was so pleased to make it out of the company competition(DST has over 10k employees) that the rest is just gravy! btw I do enjoy your youtube video links ;) I think my favorite was teh guy who walked up and starting playing with you as if it was an everyday kind of thing...

Man, James, those two poems are SECOND TO NONE.

Great writing. Great selection. They are an instant hit with first time readers.

I like your chances.

We are all extremely happy for you.

Lol, you credit me like reading through your poetry and choosing is a chore, it is like taking a girl to Tiffany's and saying choose a ring. It is always a joy to read your work and an honor that my opinion has any influence.

and by the way, I have read your work so I know the girl would pass by all the diamonds and select an opal.
